What is Budget Agent?
Budget Agent is a personal budgeting app built around receipts. You upload a receipt or a screenshot of a purchase, pick whether it was a Need, a Want or Savings, pick a subcategory, and confirm the total. The amount is then counted against your monthly budget, and at month end you get a summary that names the categories where you overspent.
Does the AI decide which category my spending belongs in?
No. You choose the category and subcategory for every purchase yourself. Budget Agent reads the merchant, date, line items and total where it can and flags anything it cannot read or that does not add up, but nothing is posted to your budget until you confirm the amount and the category.
What budget categories does Budget Agent use?
There are three top-level buckets. Needs: grocery, transportation, communication, health and housing. Wants: entertainment, restaurants, vacations, memberships, physical activities, gifts and other. Savings: PTO Fund, Retirement, Investments and Other Savings. You can also add your own custom subcategories under any bucket; those are private to your account.
How much does Budget Agent cost?
Free is $0/mo; Plus is $7.99/mo; Pro is $12.99/mo; and Business is $39.00/mo. The Free plan includes up to 15 receipts per month. You can start free, upgrade when you want more, and cancel at any time from the billing page; you keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for.
Is my receipt and spending data private?
Receipt images are stored in a private store and can only be viewed by you while signed in; there are no public or guessable image links. Any payment card number that appears on a receipt is truncated to its last four digits before it is stored. You can enable two-factor authentication, and every sign-in and category correction is written to an activity log you can view.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. You can download your data as JSON or CSV from your account page, and you can delete your account there too, which removes your receipts, uploaded files and transactions. You can also submit an access, correction or deletion request without signing in on the privacy requests page.
Does Budget Agent connect to my bank?
Not today. You can import a CSV statement that you download from your own bank's website, and each expense row goes into a review queue where you choose its category. Direct bank linking is built but switched off until it has had a legal review.
Is Budget Agent financial advice?
No. It categorizes and summarizes spending you have already made and shows how it compares with the budget you set. It does not move money, make payments or give individualized financial, tax or investment advice.
Does Budget Agent work on my phone?
Yes. The whole app works in any modern phone browser, including taking a photo of a receipt from your camera. Mobile apps are being prepared for the App Store and Google Play.
What is the Business plan for?
The Business plan is a separate business account for contractors and small businesses. It tracks projects with a budget, clients, milestone payments, materials, other costs, crew time and invoices, and shows profit per project based on money actually collected. It records labor cost only; it does not run payroll or calculate tax on invoices. Business records never mix into your personal budget.
